first stop: barcelona~
a fantastic week long excursion to Spain :)
good weather, great company, and of course, gorgeous Gaudi art!
One of his most epic creations: La Sagrada Familia
My parents who've been to Barcelona in the past told me not to miss this masterpiece of a church~ Apparently, it reminds momma and daddy lee of corn on the cob... figures. haha
(although! Gaudi is known to have used nature as his main inspiration; e.g.) comparisons with animals and vegetables, the constant movement of its shapes, how animals build their shelter and how they structured society. His perceptions about details made him produce incredibly unique pieces~ (much love to Samantha Myers for the fun facts!<3 gotta love her!)
inside la sagrada familia.. every color and rhythm meant something to Gaudi.
imagine how sweet of an acapella concert there could be here.. talk about awesome acoustics!
and of course, Gaudi's famous Parque Guell~

and of course, what would barca be without the coastline beaches!
4 days later, Erica and I hop on a plane to Madrid, Espana's amazing capital city!
Honestly speaking, Barcelona is hip and happening, but Madrid has an incredible beauty of its own. The best part about discovering this fact was that apart from Madrid's many gorgeous art museums like the Reina Sofia and Museo del Prado (which Erica and I both explored), we found an immensely rich and gratifying beauty at Madrid's palaces, plazas, parks, and people :)
Real Jardin Botanico, where we found paradise.
What a bittersweet trip back to Scotland from Spain~
On the train back from Edinburgh to St Andrews, Erica and I were extremely entertained by the train conductor's hole-punch mark on our tickets! check it outtt
hahaha it was more of a fun and delightful surprise for us because of the coincidental nature of this shape :) I had just finished listening to showtunes from the broadway show Wicked and Erica had just finished her 30-something chapter long audio-movie of Harry Potter on her iPod. (complete dork alert)
The view outside the train, back to Leuchars station. Speaking of dork alert, a glimpse into Erica and her Ya-Ya Sisterhood... ;)

p.s. speaking of Wicked, just booked tickets for the show in NYC at Gershwin Theater with Stevie T for the weekend I get back to the States :) Can't wait to see it!
(the boyfriend, that is.) <3
